This Buzzfeed article recently came to my attention: "We asked attendees at the annual Association of Writers & Writing Programs conference if they had any messages for the predominantly white publishing industry." Males are the targets, even though 70% of the people working in the American publishing business are female. The responses included the following:

  1. Reminds me of the ruckus raised by bestselling author Jodi Picoult in 2010 when she criticized the NYT for reviewing Franzen’s “Freedom” twice because he is a “white male literary darling.”

    Shortly thereafter, I noticed that the NYT was reviewing more books by women than by men.

    Intimidation works, apparently.
